I paid, but the app still shows the paywall

Open the paywall and tap Restore purchase. This asks Apple which purchases your Apple Account owns and re-enables the full course. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it on.

I can't hear anything

Check the volume, and check that the device is not in Silent mode — although the app is set up to play pronunciation even with the ring switch off. Every recording is bundled inside the app, so audio works without a network connection. If Settings shows "Pronunciation: System voice" instead of "Recorded", the app has fallen back to the device's Japanese voice; please report that.

How do I cancel the yearly subscription?

On your device: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Japanese Alphabet → Cancel. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the renewal date stops the next charge.

How do I start over?

Settings inside the app → Reset all progress. This clears every character's progress, your streak and your lesson history from the device. It cannot be undone, and it does not affect your purchase.

Why isn't kanji included?

By design. The app does one thing: get you reading and writing both kana alphabets properly. Kanji is a much larger undertaking and is better served by a dedicated app once your kana is solid.

The stroke guide looks different from my textbook

The character you trace is drawn with the system Japanese font, so its shape is always correct. The numbered dots and arrows show the order each stroke is written in and the direction it travels. Textbooks vary slightly in style, but the order and direction shown are the standard ones.
